What we never see
Sessions are encrypted on one of your devices and decrypted on the other. The keys are made on your devices and never leave them. So none of this reaches us:
- The picture of your screen
- What you type, click, and touch
- Your clipboard
- Your files
- Your computers' passwords
What we keep
The main things we keep, to run your account, connect your devices, and bill you:
- Your email address, and your name if you give one
- Each device's name, kind, and app version, and when it was last online
- When and where you signed in
- When each session started and ended, between which devices, and whether it was relayed
- Your devices' public addresses, which our signal service logs for 14 days
- Your plan and its billing dates, never your card
The relay
When two devices can't connect directly, a relay run by Cloudflare passes the session along. It carries encrypted packets it can't read, and the app says the session is relayed.
Your passcode
We keep only a scrambled form of your Mac's passcode. It can't be turned back into the passcode. We use it only to check a passcode someone types.
What support can do
We can help with your account, your devices, and billing. We can't watch a session or see your screen.
We can't reset a passcode either. Use the New passcode button on This Mac.
The details
The privacy policy says more about what we keep, how long we keep it, and your choices.
